But this red Datsun in the heart of Chiang Mai, is the original Thai street food truck in Thailand! We arrived in middle of the afternoon, and already they were mostly sold out, but they did have enough ingredients for a few more dishes – and even though they said they didn’t have any rice, they managed to come up with a plate for me. That was nice of them.
At first they were a little shy and not so sure why we showed up to eat. But they really warmed up, and were so friendly to us, and eventually started laughing and joking, and they especially loved Micah.
Here are the dishes we ordered, everything very typical Thai street food dishes:
Pad see ew (ผัดซีอิ๊ว)
Chicken holy basil (ผัดกะเพราไก่)
Stir fried vegetables (ผัดผักรวม)
Total price – 140 THB ($4.47)
Again, the food was average – it’s not going to be the best Thai food you ever eat – but the location, the original Thai street food truck – is what made it special. This is just everyday Thai food, enjoyed by everyone.
