Delicious food always available at Bann Thai Restaurant | Wichita By E.B.

I’ve been craving some Thai food lately and one of my friends encouraged me to go revisit Bann Thai Restaurant. They are just one of the many restaurants that has had some slowness due to COVID-19. I decided to go grab some lunch there and get one of my favorite soups in town.

On every visit, diners receive a complimentary soup upon ordering. It’s been described to me as a porridge of sorts; something light, basic and a palate cleanser for what’s to come.

A must-try on any visit to Bann Thai is their Tom Yum soup. It’s incredibly flavor, can be made to order for any type of heat tolerance you may have and possibly the best in town. For my latest visit, I went with their Tom Yum Goong which included shrimp. It had a beautiful flavor profile with its citrus, acidic and knock out heat. I typically order mild to medium so I can taste my lunch later. If you want to step it up a notch, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

For my main entree, I went with the always popular Spicy basil. It was a stir-fried dish with garlic, green beans, red and green bell peppers, and basil leaf. Once again, it was another winner of a dish. I simply poured everything over the rice and endured pure harmony with each bite. Whatever sauce the vegetables and meats were cooked in was amazing. I love any basil style dish and Bann Thai did a fantastic job with it.

It was my second time at Bann Thai since they moved out west and it was once again an awesome meal. I felt bad because I was only one of two tables there. They were definitely slow and could use a little pick me up. If you love good Thai food, give this one a shot.

Happy Dining,
